What is a SERP?

SERP is an acronym for search engine results page.

A SERP is the page, with a listing of website page results, that shows after typing a search query into the search box at Google, or another search engines.

Google shows the top ten results on a SERP that it believes are the most RELEVANT to the search performed.

Depending on the search there are typically five components that make up a SERP.

(1) advertisements
(2) local listings (sometimes with maps)
(3) “organic” listings
(4) suggested searches related
(5) link to the next page of results
