I’m a big collector of profound quotes and memes. One that I’ve had on my refrigerator for awhile is:

“It’s not who you know, it’s who knows you.”

I wish I had heard this 30 years ago.

I probably did, but it didn’t sink in.

I was thinking about social media where I often think to myself, probably like many of my colleagues in the wedding industry, “Why am I spending so much time on this social media marketing thing, what’s the value, where is the return on investment?”

I like to measure things, not just do something because everyone else is doing it or says “it’s great.”

So I got to thinking… social media kind of boils down to: “It’s not who you know, it’s who knows you.”

Lightbulb moment!

It’s also an effective tool to build your brand, increase your online visibility, and to drive traffic to your website.
